Quantum computers are advancing, but making them larger requires more than powerful processors. The technology supporting them must keep pace. Coherence Quantum, a new member of the Spektri business community, is tackling this challenge by developing hardware that helps quantum computers operate reliably as they grow. The Aalto University spinout is now preparing to bring its first products to market, backed by €2.78 million in recently announced funding.
Making quantum technology ready to scale
Quantum processors operate at extremely low temperatures, and the qubits they contain are highly sensitive to unwanted noise. As quantum computers grow, managing the signals needed to control these processors becomes increasingly demanding.
Coherence Quantum is developing an integrated cryogenic signalling and control platform to address these challenges. Its technology is designed to carry, condition and control signals around quantum processors, drawing on the team’s expertise in quantum physics, cryogenics, microwave engineering and electronics.
Turning research into products in Espoo
Founded by Aashish Sah, Suman Kundu and Erkki Soininen, Coherence Quantum is taking research from Aalto University towards its first commercial products.
The company’s initial focus is on signal-conditioning technologies that protect qubits from unwanted noise. The team is also developing higher-density signal interfaces, with the longer-term aim of bringing more control functionality closer to the quantum processor.
These developments could help quantum computers grow without equivalent increases in wiring, cooling requirements and technical complexity.
The company’s plans received a significant boost in October 2026 with the announcement of €2.78 million in seed funding, led by Finnish venture capital firm Lifeline Ventures, with participation from technology entrepreneur Mårten Mickos.
Coherence Quantum is using this momentum to strengthen its R&D and testing capabilities in Espoo and turn its research into commercial hardware.
Opportunities for collaboration beyond quantum computing
Coherence Quantum’s expertise extends beyond quantum technology. The team has experience in low-noise electronics, microwave engineering, device fabrication and cryogenic measurements, and is keen to exchange ideas with companies facing similar engineering challenges.
The company is particularly interested in connections with specialists in chip fabrication, flexible printed circuits, precision machining, RF connectors and electronics manufacturing. Expertise in testing, manufacturing quality and taking hardware from prototype to production is also welcome.
You don’t need to work in quantum computing to find common ground. Complementary skills and shared technical challenges can be a starting point for collaboration.
